Guardian Long Range started as one man’s passion to combine the growing precision shooting community with a higher calling to support children in need of forever families. Founder Gary Larson, has taken it upon himself to share his experience as a foster child with competitors of diverse backgrounds across the country in a format unlike any other in the shooting sports. By humbly facilitating precision shooting events that not only share the experiences of foster care and children services, the Guardian Long Range promotes fellowship and camaraderie in a weekend time span that is certain to create life-long memories as competitors see the firsthand results of the funds raised by their contributions. Our professional events will continue as the forefront of our outreach by promoting youth and adult participation in our safety oriented competitions because participants truly hold the key to expanding Guardian Long Range programs that lead to more children finding their forever homes. We are not just another match, we are a family - join us.

We are looking to add a match in the NorthEast in late June or mid-July. We are also looking to add a match in the Central U.S. in late October. If confirmed, we will provide details and open registration for those on Feb 1st.

Matches Benefiting Our Mission
General Guardian Match Format
Traditional Guardian matches follow a modest tempo match with minimal breaks between stages. The course of fire often cover disciplines from across law enforcement, military and practical marksman applications. Competitors can expect to engage targets at known distances from 100 to 1000 yards. Host locations often allow rangefinders and any equipment you can safely utilize. Target size will vary in difficulty based on the shooter's position, distance, and time allotted. Shooters often have 90 seconds to engage a target. Most stages will include “stressors” - either time and/or short movements to the shooting stage area. Event capacity varies per location, but tend to fill up very quickly!
The competition format varies based on the host facility, but usually require anywhere from 80 to 250 rounds to complete several stages over a typical two-day time span. The course is caliber restricted to 300 Win Mag and below to preserve the steel targets. Check out our social media pages to see firsthand what our matches encompass.
